About The Rovers

Where it all began

Bromsgrove Rovers AFC were a talking point between several football minded people; Mark Whitehouse, Bryn Davies and Mike Gaffney.

Back in June 2021, it was decided to pursue setting up a new football club with several grassroots boys football teams representing the club colours and name.

Once a suitable location was discovered, their now home based at Hopwood Recreation Ground, a club badge, home and away kit were designed, greatly steered by the several hundred followers on Facebook in a vote and Bromsgrove Rovers AFC were born.

Where we are now

Since 2021, in just 2 full Seasons of football, initially starting with just 1 team, the entire Club has grown from strength to strength.

Season 2022/23 saw the Club expand with 5 Grassroots teams and an Adults team formed. A Summer Tournament took place boasting 48 competitive teams from all around The Midlands taking part. The Club also started a football development group, which created new opportunities for boys and girls within the Community and saw 2 new teams formed for the next season.

Prior to Season 2023/24, the Club excelled in holding it’s annual Summer Tournment seeing 98 teams compete in June 2023. A huge accomplishment indeed! The U14 represented the Club in the prestigious Nationals Tournament, losing out to Liverpool in the Semi-Final.

In addition to that, our U15 team were invited to compete the following week at The Nationals, another huge accolade and helping put the Rovers on the football map.

As we enter Season 2023/24, The Club can boast an Adults Team, 11 Grassroots Boys Teams from U7 to U15, a new Little Rovers football group for children aged 4-7, a Weetabix Wildcats Football Centre for girls aged 5-11 and The Comets Football Group for young children with disabilities.

The Clubs’ Official Facebook Page also has a FAN-tastic 607 followers to date.

On the playing location side, Rovers have 2 locations; Stoke Prior Sports & Country Club in Bromsgrove and Hopwood Recreation Ground in Hopwood near Alvechurch.

So many individuals give up their time to run The Club, manage and coach players of all ages and abilities there are too many to name to thank. One thing we have is a great football family.

We are the people’s club

Grassroots and Youth Development is the future of football all over the world. We want to play a big part within the local footballing community.

With licensed FA qualified coaches, all with DBS checks we are building our teams to allow children of all ages and abilities to develop themselves physically and mentally. Come On You Greens!

Aims and visions

Our aim is simple; to encourage children of all ages, male and female to further their own abilities and goals, in a safe environment; playing and learning our beloved game of football.

We envisage a development of young players to also be intregrated into our already existing teams through a coaching academy.

The end of the tunnel…

Many clubs do not encourage further opportunities for young players at Youth level. We aim to offer a footballing pathway for successful players over many years of development.

Our goal is accomplished in setting up an adults team with an injection of youthful players being developed over a series of years to increase the success of the club.

League Affiliation
