Bromsgrove Rovers U12s played in the Rugby Borough Football Tournament on Sunday June 19th. The whole team played an age group up against U13s opponents.
Captained by Tommie, the boys were strong and composed throughout. They won three games and drew two with no goals conceded by a solid defence of Anders, Joe and Louie, led by Samson in Goal.
A strong midfield made up of Jamie, Sam Spooner, Riley M, and Tommie dominated the centre of the field with a work rate that frustrated the opposition boys, who were markedly taller and stronger than them.
A hardworking attacking group of David, Erdi, Riley S, Frankie, Shem and Mason constantly troubled the other teams, scoring some fantastic goals.
The success in the group stage saw the team qualify for the A finals, second only on goal difference.
The quarter final ended in a draw. Sadly, Bromsgrove U12s lost 5-4 on penalties, which was a unfortunate end to the day.
Coaches Jae and Dan remarked how proud they were of the boys for their strength and perseverance against some very big lads.
Player of the tournament by a unanimous parents vote went to Joe. Joe is new to the team, but his fitness and skill have seen him slot straight into the squad.
Well done boys. Be proud.
